FORMER ADMINISTRATOR WHITMAN WORRIED…BE AFRAID, VERY AFRAID

As you know by now, I had the privilege of working for Christie Whitman for a number of years. We did not always agree on policy or issues, but we were always able to come to a meeting of the minds on the big issues. More importantly, this is a person who does not express concern unless that concern is warranted.

christie whitman epaSo, when I read an Op-Ed that expresses such a deep concern about how the EPA is now being run, and the direction that it is moving, I am even more concerned than I was when I last said that Mr. Pruitt needs to be removed from his office.

His blatant disregard of the scientific method, his self – centered (a hall mark of this administration) let’s just have fossil fuels attitude and his dangerous love of ignorance are frightening. Very frightening.

Say what you will, when Administrator Whitman is worried, you should be too.

Scott Pruitt is a Dangerous Man

URGENT UPDATE: October 13th 2017

I CAN’T ____ing BELIEVE THIS

I am not prone to such outbursts in my blog…but read all of the attached…The be even more afraid.

Note that my sources are real…I revise my earlier note that this is a dangerous administration with regard to environmental issues…It is worse…It is an administration that has determined that ethics mean nothing, people don’t count at all and all that matters is how companies that are no longer sustainable can have their owners enriched at the expense of each of us.

ARGH…

‘The war on coal is over’: Environmental Protection Agency to repeal Clean Power Plan

EPA Chief Announces Reversal Of Obama-Era Curbs On Coal Plants

Having had the pleasure of dealing with the USEPA over the years under different administrations and for different reasons, I find the actions of the current Administrator to be the most disturbing that I have ever witnessed. The current administrator seems to think that he can destroy the agency from within through his actions.

Worse yet, he is acting in a manner that clearly demonstrates that his dismantling of regulations is designed to harm more people in a short time in order to bolster polluters’ profits without regard to sound scientific principles or ideas. Why would he act in secret if this was not the case?

Scott Pruitt is a cancer on the agency and a real threat to the health and safety of our land, water and air.

I have not always agreed with the actions of administrators, but I at least have respected their intent. The current administrator clearly has an intent of destruction and he should be removed from office.

Since that is not likely to happen, we must call out his actions and make them public.

Rewilding, an Idea Whose Time has Come.

Massachusetts is engaged in an interesting experiment on taking a former cranberry bog and returning it to its wild state as a tidal wetland. Interestingly, the project is proving to be challenging. That is no surprise since plants and wildlife are neither predictable or able to read the books written on the subject…albeit they are few and far between.

cranberry bog

The good news is that this project is the right project at the right time. The better news is that in the vacuum being created by the new Environmental Persecution Agency…the new name for EPA under this administration, enlightened states are taking the lead and filling the void! The best news is that there are private land owners who aren’t only out for themselves, unlike some who are now in power but will remain nameless, and these enlightened landowners want to do good and well at the same time!!!!!

Best of luck on the project.

Former EPA Administrator Warns of Future Mistakes

epa administratorWe all know that those who do not learn from the past are condemned to repeat it. Mr. Ruckelshaus, having served two terms as EPA administrator should know. He was there at the beginning and again to fix the problems created by another President who did not get it. People want clean air and water and land. Business needs a strong Federal program that creates a uniform field of play with regard to the environment. Finally, we all benefit from environmental sustainability….especially the economy.

Well, I have said before that I have always admired Mr. Ruckelshaus. He gets it. Maybe, just maybe, the new Administrator of the EPA can understand the lessons of history and think about the future.
