Imagine people coming together to solve an energy dependency problem! We are learning from Denmark how we might use alternative energy to make our small communities more secure from an energy standpoint.
Two interesting points in this article. One, that people can come together and where geography allows, reduce their reliance on outside sources of energy. Two, that we can’t always sell alternative power based on money. At some point, we need to go forward and simply keep thinking about the future.
In Denmark, the experiment is ongoing and it will be interesting to see if the people who came together can stay together if the straight dollar payback is not as clear.
In Maine, it will be interesting to see what does work and what does not.
No matter what, it at least shows that people are trying.
